About KETL
KETL was founded in 2000 by Ian Cray. Ian has 14 years experience in the Data Warehouse field having worked on projects to deliver EIS, MIS, Data Warehouses and large Data Migration using ETL tools as well as hand coded solutions.
The majority of his work has been carried out as a freelance consultant although he spent two years as a Senior Consultant with Informatica.
Several common factors were identified when analysing a large variety of projects :
- Lack of skills and experience at the beginning of large projects has a severe impact on the quality of the deliverable
- When external expertise is used insufficient skills are transferred in-house.
- Product training courses are inadequate as they are usually run by people with no experience of using the product on the coal-face.
Ian's main aim in founding KETL was to address these issues.
Based in Bristol KETL covers mainly the M4 corridor and London.
