Telematics Project

RAC wanted to offer its Business Fleet customers the opportunity to reduce insurance costs and reward good driving practices. In order to do that the organisation would need to establish a telematics capability from the ground up.

The Project

KETL provided the expertise to devise the Telematics data model. We designed the model and then built the reporting infrastructure to extract data from source, processing and enriching it, and outputting it into a new reporting star schema data warehouse.

The technologies

The model was implemented using Talend.

The Outcome

KETL was able to provide RAC Business with Real-time, cloud-based telemetry data collection and reporting, including geo-location.

We have a good partnership together and this has meant that I am able to ask for their advice outside of the limits of the project that they are working on and they are able to help to validate wider decisions that we are making as a department.

Why was KETL chosen?

KETL has been a trusted data partner for RAC for some time so were the natural choice for implementing a complex data model project such as Telematics.

About the RAC

The RAC is the motorist’s champion, and campaigns to support the interests of members and UK motorists at a national level. This includes advancing levels of road safety and voicing concerns about the increasing cost of motoring.
